According to on-chain investigator ZachXBT, the alleged hack of Alphapo payments provider on July 23 has resulted in losses of over $60 million, which is higher than the previously reported $31 million. The hack is believed to have been carried out by the Lazarus Group, who have a distinct fingerprint on-chain.
Alphapo is a centralized crypto payment provider for e-commerce subscription services, gaming sites, and other online businesses, and is known for providing services to HypeDrop, Bovada, and Ignition. While Alphapo did not comment on the alleged hack, deposits and withdrawals were reinstated at new addresses, and HypeDrop confirmed that its payment provider was experiencing issues causing withdrawals to be delayed.
