Founded in 1989, Abyssinian Development Corporation is a not-for-profit comprehensive community and economic development corporation dedicated to building the human, social, and physical capital in Harlem. In 1987, Reverend Dr. Calvin O. Butts, III encouraged The Abyssinian Baptist Church parishioners to work to rebuild this community brick by brick and block by block. From that time, ADC has grown into a nationally renowned entity at the forefront of the community development field. ADC has leveraged over $600 million of investments in the Harlem community, and has over 130 employees.
