Alka Gupta serves as an Advisor to OWI. She has always driven to build new paradigms for customers democratizing access at the intersection of payments, commerce, and consumer technologies. Alka Gupta is currently co-founder at global iD, a portable and interoperable identity platform empowering users globally. Global iD is neutral identity product that leverages the blockchain and allows individuals and entities to securely and privately manage all their permissions and money. Prior to global iD, Alka was at eBay/Paypal for four years, as head of strategy for eBay marketplaces and then in strategy and operations for eBay Inc. Before eBay, Inc., Alka was VP of Business Development at Retrevo (acq. by Barnes and Noble) where she built strategic partnerships to grow the ecommerce business and bring in early revenue. Earlier, she spent eight years at Lycos (LCOS; acq. by Telefonica), the first search engine to go public, where she co-founded the community product and grew it into a suite of social networking products and ran as GM. She developed strategy, executed acquisitions, and guided Lycos through its own acquisition in her eventual role as VP of Corporate Development and Strategy. Alka holds an MBA from The Wharton School and B.S. (cum laude) from Case Western Reserve University. She is a Distinguished Wharton Women in Business Alumna Award Nominee; member of the Wharton Alumni Admissions Committee; Co-President of the Menlo Park-Atherton Education Foundation; Former Charter Member and Chair of Mentoring Program at TiE; Past Board Member SAALT – South Asian Leaders of Tomorrow; early Advisory Board Member Women 2.0.
