Andre Turenne is a senior vice president of D. E. Shaw & Co., L.P. and an executive of the venture capital unit of the D. E. Shaw group, a global investment and technology development firm. Mr. Turenne has more than 30 years of operating, technical, and venture investment experience in the technology sector. Prior to joining the D. E. Shaw group in 2006, Mr. Turenne was a managing director of NeoCarta Ventures, Inc., a venture capital investment firm. From 1996 to 2000, he served as senior manager of strategic investments at Intel Capital, the venture capital unit of Intel Corporation.Before beginning his more than fifteen years of venture capital investing experience, Mr. Turenne also spent five years at Intel Corporation in various technical, marketing, and sales management roles, focusing on initiatives in enterprise servers and software, microprocessors, and high performance computing. Prior to working at Intel, Mr. Turenne spent six years in various engineering and engineering management positions at Photocircuits Corporation, a leading producer of printed circuit boards.Mr. Turenne currently serves on the board of directors of Altierre Corp.; PanTerra Networks, Inc.; Silverpop Systems, Inc.; UserTesting.com; and Winery Exchange, Inc. During his tenure at the D. E. Shaw group, he also served on the board of directors of PGP Corporation (acquired by Symantec Corp.). Prior to 2006, selected investments by Mr. Turenne include: Active Software, Inc. (acquired by webMethods, Inc.); Cavium Networks, Inc. (IPO); Extricity, Inc. (acquired by Peregrine Systems, Inc.); Meru Networks, Inc. (IPO); Persistence Software, Inc. (IPO); Red Hat, Inc. (IPO); Selectica, Inc. (IPO); SilverStream Software, Inc. (IPO); VA Linux Systems, Inc. (IPO); and WebLogic (acquired by BEA Systems, Inc.). Mr. Turenne is also a member of the board of trustees of the Sea Crest School in Half Moon Bay, CA.Mr. Turenne received his B.S. in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his M.B.A. from Northeastern University, where he was recognized as valedictorian of his class.
