Bill joined Sutter Hill in 1981. He has worked with extraordinary entrepreneurs to start and grow market leaders in the technology and medical fields. Notable companies include COR Therapeutics, Forté, Ingres, Interventional Technologies, Omnicell, Primary Access and Vitria. Bill serves on the board of the Stanford Hospital and Clinics, where he is chairman of the investment committee.He is a board member and investment committee chairman at the Gladstone Foundation in San Francisco. He was President of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists, chair of the Venture Capital Committees of the Stanford GSB Trust and the Duke Engineering School, and President of the Menlo Atherton High School Foundation. He earned a BS summa cum laude in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Prior to joining Sutter Hill Ventures, Bill worked at Cummins Engine and the U. S. Public Health Service.
