Ethan Kurzweil, a partner in the Menlo Park, Calif. office, joined Bessemer in 2008 where he focuses on investments in consumer technologies and cloud computing - and leads Bessemer's roadmap on developer platforms.Ethan’s portfolio includes consumer companies including Twitch, Life360 and Piazza; developer platforms including Twilio and Sendgrid; and cloud computing pioneers including Intercom, Simply Measured and Hightower.He has also been actively involved with the firm’s investments in Playdom (sold to Disney), adap.tv (sold to AOL), Zoosk, Crowdflower, Reputation.com, Sweet Labs, Skybox Imaging, and Mojave Networks. He currently serves on the board of directors of Twitch, Simply Measured, Intercom, Crowdflower, Hightower, Piazza and Sweet Labs.Ethan joined BVP from Linden Lab, the creator of Second Life. Previously, he held a series of positions at Dow Jones & Co., including leading new business development efforts and managing the turnaround of The Wall Street Journal international editions. While an undergraduate at Stanford, Ethan co-founded SSB-Bart Group, a provider of software and services that make the Web accessible to users with disabilities, and served as head of business development.Ethan earned a BA from Stanford University – where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa – and an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School. He serves on the Bay Area advisory board for New Leaders, a national non-profit dedicated to ensuring high academic achievement for all students through recruiting and supporting great school leaders.
