Ms. Burnim is a kindergarten, first grade, and reading intervention teacher with 16 years of classroom experience. She was honored as National Teacher of the Year in 2006—one of only three kindergarten teachers to receive the award in more than 60 years. Certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) and currently serving on that organization’s Board of Directors, Ms. Burnim brings to ABCmouse a deep and forward-thinking understanding of how to support language and literacy development for young learners. In addition to strategic curriculum planning, Ms. Burnim collaborates in the design of ABCmouse learning activities to ensure they are developmentally appropriate, incorporate effective teaching strategies, and help to build a strong foundation of essential concepts and skills important for early learners.
