As Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Blockchain, Macrina Kgil is charged with building out the company’s risk and financial operations. The successful development of these is essential to Blockchain’s continued success, and Kgil is instrumental in the company’s future growth. In particular, Kgil’s experience with taking private companies public on U.S. stock exchanges is known and valued.

Macrina KgIl graduated from Seoul National University with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, primarily focusing on mineral and petroleum engineering. A few years after completing her degree program, she began advising companies that wished to list on U.S. stock exchanges.

Kgil started at Samil PwC (Seoul, Korea) and PwC (New York, New York), advising companies that wanted to go public while at both places. She focused on audit and accounting advisory services while in Seoul, and also provided U.S.-specific IPO guidance for Korean companies that were growing. Macrina Kgil provided more extensive advisory services once in New York, acting as an expert in capital market transactions, including public debt and IPOs. She also helped companies with business carve-outs and complex technical accounting processes.

After her time with Samil PwC and PwC, Kgil joined Forest investment Group as Vice President. She was integrally involved with company transactions here, providing expert accounting advice on acquisitions and capital market transactions.

Macrina Kgil next came onboard with Springleaf Financial Services, which she helped take public through an IPO. Springleaf Financial Services became OneMain Financial after purchasing the company from Citigroup, and Kgil was vital both to navigating the acquisition and raising its capital. Springleaf Financial Services raised substantial capital through its IPO, and Kgil led the company’s finance and accounting team of 100-plus people through this process.

Macrina Kgil also was at the private equity fund GPB Capital Holdings for nearly two years. She left GPB Capital Withholdings in 2018 and joined Blockchain, which she has been with since November 2018.
