In his current role as Asia Pacific’s Chief Operating Officer, Amar Babu is responsible for strategic planning, end-to-end product and resource management and operations in this fast-growing region. At the same time, Amar also serves as Chairman of Lenovo India.

Prior to his current roles, Amar served as Managing Director of Lenovo India from the time he joined the company in 2007 to June 2015. Under his leadership, Lenovo witnessed phenomenal growth in India’s PC market, growing its market share from 8.3% to 19.8% in less than a decade, as well as becoming a strong contender in the smartphone and tablet categories. Amar is credited with establishing Lenovo’s brand, its strong partner network and large customer base in India.

Amar is also a member of the Executive Council of India’s Manufacturers’ Association for Information Technology (MAIT). He served on its Executive Committee for three years, including two years as its President, working closely with the government to create policies and initiatives that accelerate technology adoption and enable inclusive growth and development.

Prior to Lenovo, Amar was with leading brands such as Idea Cellular Ltd, HCL Information Systems and Intel Technology (I) Pvt. Ltd. Amar lives in Mumbai with his wife and son, and enjoys cooking in his spare time.
