Mr. Barnes joined Novitas Capital in January 2000, and is focused on investments in Technology. He has over fifteen years of experience working with and for entrepreneurial high-technology companies. Mr. Barnes serves on the Boards of Directors of iJet Intelligent Risk Systems, InGrid, and Chaperone Technologies. He is also an Observer to the Board of Nistica, Inc. He previously served on the Board of Maxwell Systems (acquired by LLR Partners).Prior to joining Novitas Capital, from 1996 to 1999, Mr. Barnes held various financial positions with Voxware, Inc. (Nasdaq: VOXW), a publicly traded, early stage speech- recognition technologycompany, most recently as Director of Finance and Investor Relations.At Voxware, he worked closely with executive management to analyze strategic, operational, marketing and financial decisions, and developed and presented the company's plans and performance to the investment community. Mr. Barnes directed Voxware's finance and accounting functions through a divestiture of a business segment, and an acquisition which substantially changed the Company's focus.From 1992 until 1996, Mr. Barnes primarily served early stage technology companies in the assurance practice of KPMG LLP, most recently as Engagement Manager. He led or participated in engagements with private and publicly held start-up and early stage companies in life sciences, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, computer software and memory, manufacturing, real estate, leasing, and a venture capital firm.Mr. Barnes earned a BS degree in Accountancy with honors from Villanova University, an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, and is a CPA. He serves on the Board of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Private Equity CFO Association.
