Timothy Springer is an internationally recognized leader in structural biology and immunology. With over 500 peer-reviewed publications that have received over 90,000 citations, he is one of the most highly cited scientists in any field. Timothy Springer received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1976, and subsequent post-doctoral training with Dr. Cesar Milstein in Cambridge, UK. Timothy Springer has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences and to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Among numerous awards and honors, Timothy Springer is a recipient of the Royal Society of Medicine Medal, the William B. Coley Medal from the Cancer Research Institute, and the Crafoord Prize from the Swedish Academy of Sciences. Timothy Springer's research laid the foundation for a new class of pharmaceuticals, the selective adhesion molecule inhibitors, which include the approved drugs, alefacept, efalizumab, and natalizumab. Timothy Springer was the Founder of LeukoSite, a biotechnology company acquired by Millennium Pharmaceuticals in 1999.
