Zhang Yu is the Vice President of Alibaba Group.

She is responsible for overseeing five business units, including product category operations, digital content, diversified business, consumer portal and social network.

Zhang Yu joined Alibaba Group in March 2004 as Director of Taobao’s marketing department.

From August 2006 to August 2009, she served in various leadership roles within Taobao’s business operations division, including,

Director of Website Operations,

General Manager of Tmall.com (then Taobao Mall) ,

Vice President of Consumer Business.

She was named General Manager of Koubei in August 2009 following its injection into Taobao and held that role until June 2011.

She then moved to Alibaba Cloud Computing and oversaw its wireless and mobile operations until November 2011, when she was appointed Vice President of Strategy of Alibaba Group.

Before taking on her current role in January 2013, Zhang Yu served as President of Juhuasuan.

Prior to joining Alibaba Group, Zhang Yu worked for several years in the management consulting industry and specialized in marketing, brand management and corporate management.

Zhang Yu holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Chinese People’s Public Security University.
